When I decided to start my new adventure as a yacht Stewardess, I knew that there was a good chance that I would leave Australia. And even though I had lived in Australia for four years, there were many places I hadn't visited yet. One of them was Melbourne.
My Melbourne stay was short but wonderful - it lasted only five days - it was enough for me to feel its similarities with my hometown, São Paulo: stylish, sporty, cultural and gastronomic. Filled with enchantment and it's fast paced style.

I was lost in the maze of hidden alleys filled with colorful artistic graffiti. I found myself in the Federation Square culture center, where there so much culture to be found, all thanks to museums, galleries and a multitude of restaurants, bars and coffee shops. I also visited a few vineyards and did a divine wine taste, how could I not? I found out that Melbourne rooftops come alive at night time - lights and music bring warmth to the typical chilly temperature of that gorgeous and charming town.

About 100 km away from Melbourne you will find one of Victoria's most famous attractions: the Great Ocean Road. Why is it so famous? When taking this route, you will drive pass Bells Beach, one of the hottest surf spot in Australia, a fascinating Eucalyptus forest and consequently the cuddly Koalas that live there. You'll be enticed by the famous natural beauty of the Twelve Apostles, a collection of limestone stacks sculpted by the wind and waves.
I took this trip on board a minibus. The company picked me up at the hotel at 05:30 AM, which gave us enough time to do the long trip.
The minibus was full of young people, but my travelmate was a 60-year-old lady, after her husband died she bought a round-the-world ticket and has been traveling to every place she felt like. For her, being in touch with other people was the easiest way to fill up the gap he left in her life.
After some chatting we arrived at the Twelve Apostles. Once you're there you have the option to take the scenic helicopter flight over it. This was not on my plan because one, I couldn't afford it and two, I'm scared of heighs - yes, I'm terrified of heights - but suddenly that kind lady gave me tickets for the flyover!!! Surprised with her kindness and without enough words to thank her for that gesture, she said: "Happiness is only real when you share it" - Have you seen the movie Into the Wild? ;)

Getting to know Melbourne was amazing! Want my advice for this trip? Go alone! Lose and find yourselves! Find out what you like and what you don't! Talk to strangers, find out their stories, listen, share and make your own stories too.  The opportunities you will have and the life experiences you'll acquire shall be indescribable!

Thank you for your comment!
